“Have you thought about what vehicle you want?”

His back was to her and he must have been thinking about that. He’d taken off his shirt and stood in his jeans, muscles playing under the skin on his back, mesmerizing her for a moment. Heat pooled low in her belly and her limbs grew heavy.

“It will be late, but I thought I’d give it to you for Valentine’s Day. I can call tomorrow—” He spotted her, and his words cut off abruptly. He stood staring at her with his mouth hanging open for several long moments.

Claire was starting to feel self-conscious when he finally spoke.

“Wow.” The smile that spread across his face as he stood and looked her up and down was worth the few seconds of doubt. “You look amazing.” He took a step closer, then another. His hands opened and for a moment she thought he was going to grab her. Her heart raced again. He stopped a few inches away, close enough to touch, but not. “You’re even more gorgeous than I imagined.”

Claire’s breath caught in her throat. “You imagined?” A slow smile curved across his lips.

“I did.” His gazed shifted to her mouth as he slowly lowered his head. Her stomach fluttered, she wished he’d hurry up and kiss her. Maybe her stomach would calm down once the anticipation had passed.

Time seemed to crawl, he moved so slowly, at least it seemed that way to Claire. Finally, she could take it no longer. She closed the distance between them, her hand coming to rest on the hot, velvet covered hardness of his chest as she stretched up until her mouth met his. As if that was what he’d been waiting for, his mouth covered hers in a hard, hot kiss that made all thought flee her mind.

His hands slid along her waist. Flames of awareness licked along her skin and she stepped closer to him. Heat from his body warmed hers through the whisper-thin fabric. The world outside this bedroom ceased to matter. All that existed, or needed to, was the two of them.

Somehow, they made their way to the bed and Claire found herself being lowered to the mattress, hands on her body treating her as if she was the most precious thing on earth. His touch made her head swim. The room seemed warmer than it had been. Logan caressed her skin and something inside her begged for more.

Her nightgown soon disappeared. Then his mouth met her skin. Claire’s world narrowed even farther. All that mattered now was the two of them. Every touch, every caress, every kiss sent sensations like she’d never known through her. She didn’t know entirely what they were, only that she didn’t want it to stop. Logan moved down her body, teasing her with kisses and gentle nips of his teeth until her face grew hot at the places he was touching. She knew what was going on. She’d had sex education, even if she’d never experienced it before.

Logan stopped, looking up at her. It took a moment for the haze of pleasure to clear her head enough to realize he was waiting for something.

  “Are you protected?”

  She blinked, confused.

  “Protected?”

  “Are you on birth control?”

“Oh, protected. No. I’ve never had need.”

He stared at her a moment, eyes wide. “Never?” She shook her head but remained silent.

“You’re a virgin?” he seemed to need confirmation.

“I am. It was one of the requirements for the agency.”

“Huh.” He fell silent for a moment as he stretched up over her, reaching for something. He opened the night stand drawer and pulled out a string of condoms. “I’ll need a child eventually, but we’ve got time. We can enjoy some time with just the two of us first.” He glanced up at her with a smirk. He set the foil squares aside and kissed her again.

Claire found her fingers buried in his hair, tugging at him, pulling him closer as she once more lost the ability to think among the sensations flooding her body and brain.

  Chapter 9

Logan couldn’t believe his luck. The woman in his arms was not only one of the sexiest he’d seen in longer than he could remember, she had a brain. No matter what topic he’d brought up at dinner or even while they’d watched TV together, she’d shown interest and had something to say.

He’d had little hope there would be anything more than sleep happening in this bed tonight. He’d assumed she didn’t know him well enough, she wouldn’t want him to touch her, at least not too much. But then she’d stepped out of the bathroom, dressed in a few pieces of lace and a couple feet of thin silk that left little to the imagination and he’d been unable to resist the temptation to kiss her again.

Yes, he needs at least one child, though with Claire? He’d like to have several. Still, it was too soon. They need some time with just the two of them. To grow to care, to learn to love each other, as he hoped they could.

Now, to find out she’s never been touched by another. If Logan got his way, she’d never be touched by another. She’d be his alone. The thought was both intriguing and terrifying. And somehow hot at the same time. He wasn’t entirely sure, but he suspected that no matter what Claire did, he’d find it sexy.

Her fingers clutched at his hair, tugging him back to the moment.

“Are you sure?” Her voice was honeyed and thick with the desire rising in them both.

“I’m sure.” He touched her, caressed her and taught her about things he could do until she cried out in pleasure, not once but several times.

Logan loved the breathless, shaky sound of her voice as she cried out his name and asked for more. As the world closed around them, he realized there was something beyond special about introducing someone to this kind of pleasure, something that made it seem more than he’d ever experienced before. Or was it something more? Could it be that despite barely knowing each other, he’d formed a soft spot, or more for her? Could he possibly be falling in love with her?

They came together in an explosion of physical and emotional proportions until they both lay exhausted and gasping for breath.

“That was amazing…” Claire paused, trying to take a deep breath, “beyond anything I’d imagined.”

  “You can say that again.”

  “Is it always like that?”

“I’d like to say yes, but I’d be lying. I’ve never experienced anything quite like it.” He blinked as he stared up at the ceiling as he tried to figure out why it was so different with her. “I think perhaps I have just been given the best Valentine’s gift I’ve ever received.”

  “What?” She sounded confused.

He rolled toward her and pulled her into his arms. “You.”

“Aww, that’s sweet. But I’m glad you think so.”

  “Why?”

“Because I’m pretty sure I’m falling in love with you.”

Joy exploded in his chest as he pulled her close and dropped a kiss on her shoulder.

“At this moment? I can’t think of anything I’d like more, as I know I’m falling for you.”
